Before Product Lines are set up, Tax Codes must be set up. If you have not set up Tax Codes, go back and do so before proceeding.
Product Lines have two purposes:
●To assign a Tax Code to each Category. Doing so eliminates the need to enter a tax rate each time an item is entered. Considering the tens of thousands of items that will eventually be inventoried it is easy to see that this is a great time saver.
●To group Categories for reporting purposes.
Every Category has a Product Line and every Product Line has a Tax Code. In this way every item is correctly taxed.
When you install Liberty you are provided with one Product Line. The name of this Product Line is Default.
You may add as many Product Lines as you wish.
